The Chaos of English Pronunciation

If you can pronounce correctly every word in this poem, you will be speaking English better than 90% of the native English speakers in the world. After trying the verses, a Frenchman said he’d prefer six months of hard labour to reading six lines aloud.

Now, are you ready for the challenge? Best of Luck!

The Chaos of English Pronunciation
By: Gerald Nolst Trenite’

Dearest creature in creation,
Study English pronunciation.
I will teach you in my verse

Just compare heart, beard, and heard,
Dies and diet, lord and word,
Sword and sward, retain and Britain.
(Mind the latter, how it’s written.)

Now I surely will not plague you
With such words as plaque and ague.

Teaching Resources for Every Educator

Teaching Resources Teaching resources, including teacher-made resources and teacher-created materials, are widely available for educators everywhere because of their easy accessibility over the internet, the very little cost, or almost no cost, required for free teacher resources, and the widespread scope of the International Baccalaureate (IB) organization. Even ESL teaching resources and our IB booklist of best teaching resources are free educational resources that a teacher may find through the internet or through their local school board. Several teacher resource websites offer educational resources or worksheets for every year level and subject. Most of these are free although they may not be published without permission from the author, neither may they be sold. These sites, in fact, encourage educators to inform their colleagues about these new and creative teaching materials as well as request comments or corrections of these materials.  Teaching Resources Online
